How to configure DNS on CISCO Router

DNS Server

DNS stand for Domain Name Server or Domain name System. The work of DNS server is to translate domain name to an IP address. So, whenever a user want to visit any website, then first of all DNS query will processed. If you want to read more about DNS you can Click Here .
Now, many time our requirement is to set a small DNS server, so that is can easily used in small network. Now, in this situation we configure our router as a DNS server, so that it takes DNS query and response to the client.

Configuration of DNS Server

Now we are going to configure DNS Server step by step.

First of all going to configuration mode

configure terminal

Enable router to listen DNS Query

ip domain-lookup

Bind a particular host to a particular IP

ip host www.techccna.com 192.168.1.50
